Purpose of the Role
You will be a key member of the sales team, and will be responsible for ensuring the company’s retail products are widely distributed and available online and in-stores across Malaysia. You will provide planning & strategic input to the Product Director and develop sales strategies for existing and new retail products. You will have account management and new business responsibilities, as well as responsibility for planning, reporting and budgeting your own activities. You will work closely with the Marketing team and other Commercial team members to develop sales, technical and promotional materials.
Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;
● Developing retail sales strategies for maximising the market penetration of retail products in-store in Malaysia
● Developing marketing materials & promotional strategies both online and offline
● Identifying and executing merchandising opportunities with retail partners
● Working with the e-commerce team to maximise the market penetration of retail products online in Malaysia
● Drafting & executing annual, quarterly and monthly activity plans
● Developing leads and closing sales with department stores, homeware stores, supermarkets, and garden centres
● Closing and managing Key Accounts within Malaysia and export markets (initially Singapore and Vietnam).
Specific Activities – Sales
● Meeting company sales targets, both in securing volume and maximising revenue through material allocation and pricing strategies.
● Implement action plans (e.g. make regular calls/visits, take orders, etc.) to achieve sales targets for assigned businesses/territories
● Analysing data to make strategic decisions, such as engaging collaboration or partnership or making adjustments to the sales pitches and materials.
● Leading the development of marketing materials, both traditional and digital media.
● Execute sales activities for assigned businesses/territories, including product portfolios and marketing plan introductions, order taking, marketing display set-ups and in-store merchandising
● Prepare quotation/tender prices, delivery and commercial terms, in accordance with company policies.
● Supporting the Marketing team to develop materials suitable for new sales channels and customer support strategies.
● Use Zoho CRM for progressing & tracking account development.
● Analysing sales data and taking responsibility for adapting strategies, reporting sales data and trends to the Product Director
● Attending conferences, seminars, expos and webinars.
Any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to you by the management from time to time either within or out of your category of employment must perform accordingly.
Requirements & Person Specifications
● In-depth understanding of FMCG sales processes, ideally with a network of key clients and their position in the industry.
● Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, sales, or relevant field, Master’s degree preferred.
● At least 6 years’ experience in FMCG sales or account management, and ideally at least 2 years’ experience of managing key accounts.
● Familiarity with CRM tools (eg SalesForce or Zoho CRM), forecasting & reporting.
● Proven results of meeting sales targets.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a listener, a presenter, and a people-person.
● Strong computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
● You must be driven by a challenge and have the agility and flexibility to adapt to a very fast growing company.
● You must be comfortable working in a multinational environment.
● Strong attention to detail, with a high level of self-management.
● Goal oriented, ambitious and target driven.
Reporting Line & Supervision
You will report to the Product Director, and will work closely with the wider commercial and marketing team where required. You will also work closely with the QHSE team, with some coordination with the production team.
