The Opportunity

A unique opportunity has become available for a Process Engineering Manager to join our Kuala Lumpur based site.

This is a highly visible leadership role suited to someone who is motivated by the opportunity to build, lead and develop a Process Engineering team, inspire the team, sets direction, involve, motivate, and help the team grow.

The Process Engineering Manager will lead the design and development of programs to drive growth in a way which is aligned with Cochlear’s strategy, prioritise activities as per the business needs and ensure resources are forecasted and aligned with the set objectives.

The Process Engineering Manager reports to the VP of Process Engineering (Sydney based) with a dotted line reporting to the VP of Manufacturing Malaysia. The Process Engineering Manager will work very closely with the Director Manufacturing Support in Malaysia and other Process Engineering Managers located in Australia.

This new role has opened in preparation to the transitioning of some key products who are currently manufactured in Australia to be to be manufactured in Malaysia. In the lead up to this you will be trusted with building and developing the Kuala Lumpur based Process Engineering team.

We require a self-started who is comfortable with some level ambiguity while they build and their team of about 2 Process Engineers, 2 Test Engineers

and a CAD Engineer.

Please note: The role requires initial travel (up to 2 months) to Australia and Europe in order to learn the Cochlear products and process.

Accountabilities include:

To be successful in this role the person will need to be able to demonstrated experience supporting the supply chain and R&D group in project execution developing and implementing safe, scalable, stable and robust manufacturing processes.

  • Develop a stable and reliable manufacturing processes within Cochlear and at suppliers of manufactured components.
  • Support the supply chain and R&D group project execution by developing and implementing safe, scalable, stable and robust manufacturing processes across the manufacturing network for new and commercially already available product.
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes and associated documents comply with Cochlear Quality Management System and international regulation (e.g. Wl, PFMEA).
  • Meeting the manufacturing strategy by relocating/ duplicating processes across the manufacturing network.
  • Set team development strategy and budget resources to deliver against Product and services and manufacturing plan.

 You bring:

  • Engineering Degree (or comparable qualification)
  • Leadership experience, for example from leading a team or project
  • Experience from driving continuous success and developing teams to be the best they can be.
  • Strong product and manufacturing development background – preferably medical devices, mechanical or electrical
  • Experience from development of manufacturing processes
  • Experience in GMP, DFA, LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology
