As part of the rapidly expanding provision in the Arts, School of Arts at Sunway University is looking to appoint two full-time staff members for the new BA (Hons) Theatre Production programme. We are seeking for candidates who are strong in the fields of:

  • Performance, which includes voice, movement, acting, and directing; and/or
  • Critical theatre theory, which includes historical, dramaturgical, and contextual studies; and/or
  • Applied theatre in a variety of community settings; and/or
  • Theatre producing and stage management; and/or
  • Theatre design, which includes scenic, costume, lighting, sound, projection, and/or multi/inter-media.

Requirements and expectations:

  • Minimum a Master’s Degree and a strong record of professional practice. Candidates with a PhD or discipline-related doctorate will be viewed favourably.
  • Experience in teaching in Higher Education and possess extensive subject knowledge.
  • An established theatre practitioner with regional or international profiles.
  • Excellence in teaching, research/creative activity, and service to the university and community.
  • Familiar with contemporary educational issues.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and guide students.
  • A proven ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to develop theatre programme according to MQA requirements. 

The successful candidates will be responsible for various duties, including teaching and administration, research, and professional practice. Lecturers are expected to cross-teach in the Performing Arts Diploma Programme.
