APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Malaysian citizen
- Not less than 18 years of age on the closing date of the position advertisement;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Shariah and Law with Government recognized Honours from a local institution of higher learning or a recognized equivalent qualification.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Syariah Honours or Bachelor Degree in Islamic Studies (Syariah) as well as Advanced Diploma in Islamic Law and Administration of Justice recognized by the Government from a local institution of higher learning or recognized equivalent qualification (Starting Salary in Grade LS41: RM2,418.00)
MALAY LANGUAGE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
Candidates for appointment must have an Honours (at least Grade C) in Malay language subjects in the Malaysian Certificate of Education/Malaysian Vocational Certificate or equivalent recognized qualification by the Government.
Officers currently serving as Assistant Syariah Officers are eligible for consideration by the Appointing Authority for Promotion by Appointment to the post of Syariah Officer Grade LS41, subject to vacancies, when confirmed in service and:
Has the qualifications in paragraph 1(c); and
the age limit for an appointment:
Is less than 54 years of age on the date of appointment for officers whose mandatory retirement age is 55 or 56 years; or
be less than 56 years of age on the date of appointment for an officer whose mandatory retirement age is 58 years; or
less than 58 years old on the date of appointment for officials whose mandatory retirement age is 60 years old.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for running the Syariah Court at the district level, acting as a Judge of the Lower Syariah Court, preparing ‘grounds of decision’ for appeal cases, producing legal reports for publication in the Syariah Law Journal, and authorizing applications for the distribution of inheritance under the prescribed authority of the court.

- (b) the age limit for an appointment:
- is less than 54 years of age on the date of appointment for officers whose mandatory retirement age is 55 or 56 years; or
- less than 56 years old on the date of appointment for officials whose mandatory retirement age is 58 years old; or
- less than 58 years old on the date of appointment for officials whose mandatory retirement age is 60 years old.
