Mahatma Gandhi School is seeking a dedicated, organized, and service-oriented School Librarian to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the school library, maintaining library resources, and supporting students and teachers in accessing and utilizing library materials effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library.
Organize, classify, catalogue, and maintain books and other library resources.
Manage the borrowing and returning of books and ensure accurate library records.
Assist students and teachers in locating appropriate books, references, and learning resources.
Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming library environment.
Monitor and update library collections based on the needs of students and teachers.
Recommend and assist in selecting new books and learning resources.
Promote reading habits and encourage students to make effective use of the library.
Organize reading activities, book displays, library programs, and other literacy-related activities.
Maintain library databases and ensure inventory records are accurate and up to date.
Support teachers in providing library resources for classroom learning.
Ensure library rules and procedures are properly implemented.
Perform other library-related duties as assigned by the school management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, Education, or a related field.
Previous experience as a librarian, preferably in a school or educational institution.
Good knowledge of library management, cataloguing, and classification.
Familiarity with library management systems and Microsoft Office.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to communicate effectively in English.
Organized, detail-oriented, responsible, and able to work independently.
Friendly and approachable, with a genuine interest in working with children and young people.
Able to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, and parents.
Candidates with experience in an international or bilingual school environment will be an advantage.
