Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Review requirement documents, Functional Specification Documents (FSD), system flows, and API/interface specifications provided by System Analysts and Business Analysts. 

• Develop comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and test cases for functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing. 

• Ensure complete test coverage by mapping test scenarios to business and system requirements. 

• Work closely with System Analysts to clarify system logic, expected behaviors, workflows, and integration points. 

• Perform manual testing to validate system functionality, usability, and integration behavior. 

• Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts where applicable. 

• Validate API behaviors through API testing tools (e.g., Postman, Swagger, SoapUI) and verify request/response payloads. 

• Log defects clearly and accurately and track them to closure using defect management tools. 

• Conduct defect triage discussions with Developers, System Analysts, and Product Owners to determine severity, impact, and resolution priority. 

• Retest resolved defects and perform regression testing to ensure changes do not introduce new issues. 

• Collaborate with Developers to understand technical constraints and potential areas of risk. 

• Prepare test reports, test results, and test evidence for each release cycle. 

• Conduct pre‑UAT user training, introducing users to test flows, scenarios, execution steps, and defect-raising procedures. 

• Provide direct support to users during UAT, including clarification, scenario guidance, and defect logging assistance. 

• Recommend improvements to testing processes, tools, and methodologies for continuous quality enhancement. 

Additional responsibilities for senior-level roles 

• Lead test planning and quality strategy for complex or multi-integration projects.  

• Mentor junior QA Engineers and ensure consistency in testing practices.  

• Define or refine QA standards, processes, and automation frameworks.  

• Drive automation initiatives and increase automated test coverage.  

• Assess quality risks and advise stakeholders during planning and development phases. 

Requirements:

• Possess at least a Degree/ Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related fields. 

• 5+ years of experience in software testing or QA engineering. 

• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies: functional, integration, regression, system, and UAT support. 

• Ability to analyze requirements, FSDs, and technical documents to derive effective test scenarios. 

• Experience preparing test plans, test cases, and test scripts. 

• Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, TestRail, etc.). 

• Hands-on experience with API testing and understanding JSON/XML payloads. 

• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail. 

• Effective communication and collaboration skills with SA, Developers, Product Owners, and users. 

• Ability to support and guide users during UAT activities. 

• Experience in leading testing activities for large or complex projects. 

• Hands-on experience with automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Robot Framework, etc.). 

• Experience with performance, load, or security testing tools is a plus. 

• Strong ability to drive quality discussions and enforce best practices.
