Qualifications & experience
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Agriculture, Plantation Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Environment, Safety, and Health (ESH/HSE) management, preferably in sugarcane plantations, agro-industry, or agricultural operations.
Knowledge of relevant environmental, occupational safety, and health regulations and standards applicable to plantation operations and agricultural industries.
Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation strategies related to plantation activities, including field operations, heavy equipment, chemical handling, and harvesting processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with field workers, supervisors, contractors, and management teams.
Demonstrated ability to conduct field inspections, safety audits, incident investigations, and develop and deliver safety training programs for plantation operations.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills in handling operational safety and environmental challenges within plantation areas.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple field activities simultaneously, and meet operational deadlines in a dynamic plantation environment.
Tasks & responsibilities
Assist in implementing HSE policies and programs for sugarcane plantation operations.
Conduct regular field inspections and audits to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and compliance issues.
Coordinate with plantation supervisors and contractors to ensure safe and environmentally compliant operations.
Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses, including preparing corrective actions.
Monitor safety and environmental performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
Support HSE training and safety awareness programs for plantation workers and field staff.
Ensure compliance with environmental, occupational safety, and health regulations related to plantation activities.
