This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing occupational health and safety (OHS) training programs and safety communication systems across the site. Reporting to the relevant OHS leadership, the OHS Trainer ensures that all employees and contractors receive effective safety training, induction, and communication aligned with company policies, regulatory requirements, and mining safety standards. The role supports the development of a strong safety culture by ensuring competency, awareness, and compliance with mining safety management systems.
Some of your duties will include:
Develop and prepare safety training modules based on company business processes, operational activities, and identified safety risks.
Conduct safety inductions, training sessions, and safety communication programs for employees and contractors in accordance with mining safety requirements.
Manage and maintain documentation and records related to safety inductions, training activities, and safety communication programs.
Develop and implement Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to identify safety training requirements across departments and operational functions.
Prepare and manage the annual training and safety communication calendar to ensure timely and effective delivery of safety programs.
Prepare reports on the implementation and effectiveness of safety training and competency development programs related to mining safety.
Deliver internal safety training programs, including but not limited to JSEA, HIRADC, LOTO, Incident Investigation, and other critical safety competencies.
Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Mining Safety Management System (ISMKP) and relevant safety standards such as ISO 45001.
What skills and experience do you need?
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in mining operations, preferably in a similar OHS training role.
Certified Trainer (Training of Trainer – TOT Level 4) is required.
Strong understanding of mining business processes and operational safety risks.
Certification in Mining Safety Management System (ISMKP) and ISO 45001 is preferred.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Intermediate to Advanced level).
Ability to develop structured training plans and programs.
Valid driver’s license (SIM A).
