Senior Technician – Diesel Engine
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair of marine diesel engines, particularly Volvo Penta engines, in accordance with manufacturer standards and company procedures.
Diagnose and repair marine propulsion systems, including sterndrive, IPS (Inboard Performance System), shaft drive systems, and related components.
Conduct mechanical, electrical, and electronic diagnostics using Volvo Penta diagnostic software and specialized marine service tools.
Handle engine and propulsion system disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly, alignment, and sea trial testing to ensure optimal vessel performance.
Perform field service assignments at marinas, shipyards, and onboard vessels, providing on-site technical support and emergency repairs.
Analyze complex engine and propulsion failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
Prepare detailed technical service reports, including diagnostic results, parts used, warranty documentation, and service recommendations.
Ensure all work complies with marine safety regulations, environmental standards, and company safety policies.
Coordinate with customers, captains, and service advisors regarding technical findings and maintenance planning.
Supervise and mentor junior technicians, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to Volvo Penta service standards.
Maintain proper handling and care of marine service tools, lifting equipment, and diagnostic devices.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Diploma (D3) or equivalent in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience handling marine diesel engines, preferably Volvo Penta.
Strong knowledge of marine propulsion systems (Sterndrive, IPS, Shaft Drive).
Proficient in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Familiar with Volvo Penta diagnostic software and service manuals.
Experience in field service and onboard vessel repair.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Willing to travel and work on-site as required.
Good communication skills in English (spoken and written) are an advantage.
