This position provides the resources and expertise necessary to oversee both the daily and long‑term strategic maintenance programs supporting the Deep Mill Level Zone (DMLZ) Underground mine fleet. The Technical Expert – Mobile Equipment Support will serve as an advisor on maintenance practices and procedures, providing technical guidance to the national workforce to support and drive the long‑term goals of the maintenance team.
Additional Responsibilities
- Develop and lead an integrated team between PTFI, Trakindo, and Sandvik to ensure alignment and focus on optimizing the performance of the entire DMLZ equipment fleet in accordance with PTFI’s objectives.
- Manage and track all warranty issues for both the DMLZ and Big Gossan (BG) mine fleets, including coordination with the Materials department.
- Work with the senior national team to ensure all maintenance standards and processes are properly implemented and consistently followed across the DMLZ fleet.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Reliability team to develop and implement tactics and strategies that promote continuous improvement in equipment performance.
- Liaise with Underground Maintenance team and Operations management on all technical, scheduling, and cost‑related matters, including equipment availability and utilization for both DMLZ and BG fleets.
- Implement and enforce PTFI Safety standards in all maintenance activities.
- Liaise with the Redpath Maintenance team on BG equipment performance and ensure alignment with PTFI maintenance standards and practices.
- Mentor and develop the national workforce, enhancing technical skills and knowledge.
- Review and improve workshop practices, focusing on task efficiency, specialized tooling requirements, and SOP updates.
- Work with the senior national team on special projects in both DMLZ and BG.
- Assist in the planning and scheduling of maintenance work to ensure the DMLZ fleet meets compliance.
Qualifications
- Trade Certification or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in equipment maintenance with formal training from OEMs.
- Training in failure analysis, component rebuilds and conflict resolution.
- At least eight (8) years of experience in equipment maintenance.
- Advanced experience in Failure Analysis.
- Advanced experience in Tribology.
- Advanced experience in Equipment Maintenance.
- Advanced experience in PDM plans and processes.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
