At Inofarma, we’re on a mission to revolutionize healthcare in Indonesia. Our goal? To build the largest, innovative pharmacy chain that enhances the health and well-being of communities across the nation. We’re delivering accessible, affordable, and high-quality medicines paired with expert pharmaceutical services, all while creating a brand that Indonesians trust and love.

As we take on the journey of growing to 1,000 stores, we’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Category Management to drive the performance of our product categories across our expanding network. In this role, you will shape category strategies by managing assortments, analyzing sales and customer behavior, and ensuring each category is positioned to meet customer needs and business objectives. Working closely with merchandising, supply chain, and operations teams, you’ll help ensure our categories are relevant, competitive, and consistently executed across all stores—supporting a clear, trusted, and effective shopping experience.

Role Purpose

Own the end-to-end health and performance of assigned categories in-store, ensuring the right range, the right brands, and competitive pricing—while translating category strategy into executable plans and planograms across different store formats. This role acts as a critical bridge between Commercial, Merchandising, and Planogram execution, ensuring category strategies deliver measurable commercial and shopper impact.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Performance

  • Develop and maintain category strategies based on shopper need-states, price tiers, and category roles (traffic, profit, premium, innovation).

  • Own and monitor category KPIs, including sales, margin, space productivity, assortment effectiveness, and price competitiveness.

  • Diagnose category performance drivers and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Lead monthly category business reviews with clear keep / fix / test / stop recommendations.

Assortment & Range Architecture

  • Define and maintain category range architecture (missions → need-states → subsegments → key attributes).

  • Build and manage a range coverage scorecard to identify gaps, overlaps, and redundancies.

  • Recommend SKU additions and removals based on contribution, duplication, growth potential, and strategic fit.

  • Lead assortment rationalization and product listing evaluations in collaboration with Merchandising and Buying teams.

Brand Strategy & Portfolio Management

  • Define brand roles and portfolio rules (anchor brands, challengers, local heroes, premium, value).

  • Partner with Merchandising/Buying to evaluate principal proposals and align brand portfolios with category strategy.

  • Ensure brand standards and priorities are reflected in planograms (e.g., blockings, hero placements, visibility requirements).

  • Ensure listed brands are supported by appropriate availability and visibility, not just shelf presence.

Price & Value Management

  • Build and maintain category price architecture (entry, core, premium ladders, KVIs, pack-size architecture).

  • Monitor competitor pricing and maintain price index tracking by store cluster.

  • Recommend pricing, pack, and promotion actions to protect competitiveness and margin.

  • Identify and flag pricing or pack inconsistencies that may confuse shoppers or weaken category clarity.

Planogram Direction & Validation

  • Translate category strategies and commercial priorities into clear, actionable planogram briefs.

  • Provide the Planogram team with reset objectives, segment priorities, constraints, and success metrics.

  • Review and validate planogram outputs to ensure:

    • alignment with category strategy and brand roles

    • optimal space productivity and SKU placement

    • operational feasibility (replenishment, shelf standards, safety, and regulatory compliance)

  • Own exception and override governance when stores deviate from standard planograms.

Space Planning & Shelf Productivity

  • Support space planning decisions, including gondola allocation, shelf productivity, and category adjacencies.

  • Analyze productivity per space and recommend reallocation to maximize performance.

  • Ensure space decisions are scalable across different store formats and profiles.

Store & Market Optimization

  • Support new store openings, store remodeling, and category reset initiatives.

  • Analyze store and market-level performance differences and recommend category or layout adjustments.

  • Ensure category execution complies with pharmacy regulations, safety standards, and operational requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Merchandising, Planogram, Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing teams.

  • Act as a key category point of contact to align initiatives with store execution and campaign plans.

  • Communicate category insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders and store teams.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, or related fields.

  • 3-4 years of experience in Category Management, Merchandising, Planogram, or Retail Strategy.

  • Experience in modern retail, pharmacy, FMCG, or grocery retail is highly preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in category performance analysis.

  • Proficient in Excel / Google Sheets; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools is a plus.

  • Familiar with planogram tools (e.g., Nielsen Discover or equivalent).

  • Able to translate data into clear business recommendations.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Able to bridge commercial strategy with operational execution.

  • Detail-oriented with a structured approach to problem-solving.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-store retail environment.

  • Understands the unique dynamics of pharmacy retail (regulated products, customer trust, operational flow).

  • Able to communicate in English, both written and verbal
