The employer is a very large retail organization with interests in fashion, footwear and F&B businesses in SE Asia, including Indonesia. The Indonesian operations of the group include several large format as well as boutique outlets of top-tier brands in different cities. The company plans to introduce several new brands and roll out retail stores in the next 6-12 months. To provide leadership to the HR function, it is looking for a dynamic HR professional to join the team in its Jakarta office:

Role & Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Country CEO, the selected candidate will own the end-to-end people agenda for Indonesia operations across stores, warehousing, and the country office; orchestrate workforce strategy, regulatory compliance, and culture to unlock sales productivity, reduce attrition, and build a scalable leadership bench for multi-brand retail growth.

People Strategy & Workforce Planning

  • Translate country growth plans, store openings, and seasonal peaks into demand-driven headcount, scheduling, and talent pipelines.

  • Partner with retail ops to optimize conversion, service levels, and shrink mitigation through staffing models and incentive design.

  • Drive org design and span-of-control standards for stores, DC, and functions.

Talent Acquisition & Employer Brand

  • Lead high-volume hiring for frontline roles and targeted searches for critical managers

  • Institutionalize assessment standards and SLAs; embed DEI practices aligned with Indonesian labor norms.

Learning & Leadership

  • Deploy onboarding, product/pos training, service playbooks, and micro-learning at scale.

  • Build a store-manager pipeline; implement succession planning and manager capability frameworks.

Total Rewards (Payroll, Compensation & Benefits)

  • Govern payroll accuracy, statutory contributions, and year-end processes.

  • Conduct retail-market benchmarking; calibrate fixed/variable pay to store KPIs and NPS.

  • Ensure employer’s statutory obligations to Social Security/Provident Fund and Workmen’s Compensation Fund are consistently met.

Performance & Engagement

  • Run a quarterly performance cadence; align goals to sales/footfall/conversion, shrink, and customer experience.

  • Lead engagement surveys, recognition, and ER initiatives that reduce regrettable attrition.

Employee Relations, Compliance & Industrial Relations

  • Serve as escalation point for complex ER matters and investigations; manage dialogue with authorities/union reps where applicable.

  • Ensure compliance with the Labour Laws on working hours, overtime, leave, termination/severance, and safety.

  • Operationalize Indonesia’s PDPA in HR processes (lawful basis, notices, retention, data subject requests) and maintain audit-ready controls.

HRIS, Analytics & Process Excellence

  • Own HRIS roadmap (core HR, time & attendance, payroll, case management); drive data quality and automation.

  • Publish monthly people dashboards: hiring velocity, time-to-fill, cost-to-hire, attendance/overtime, productivity per FTE, and attrition heatmaps.

  • Build SOPs and internal controls; ensure audit readiness.

Culture, Change & Communications

  • Champion company values; lead change management for store formats

  • Run townhalls and cascade communications; activate well-being and CSR programs relevant to Indonesian retail contexts.

Requirements

Experience

  • 10–15 years in HR with at least 5 years as Head of HR/ HR Director for a retail or consumer multi-site organization in Indonesia

  • Evidence of partnering with Operations to lift store productivity and reduce attrition in high-volume environments.

  • Hands-on command of Indonesian ER/IR, statutory payroll, and regulatory filings.

  • Built/led HRBP teams and a center-of-excellence model (Talent, C&B, L&D).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in HR/Business preferred.

  • Bahasa language fluency; strong English for regional interfacing.

  • HR tech literacy (HRIS, T&A, payroll interfaces, analytics/BI).
