This Position reports to:
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for leading quality testing, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for switchgear systems, covering Incoming, In-Process, and Outgoing stages, in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 17025, and IEC standards such as IEC 61439 and IEC 62271. This role includes managing supplier audits, verifying technical specifications, and overseeing quality control throughout the production process. The candidate will lead major quality projects including specification verification and customer witness testing, while also developing and programming relay protection systems for medium voltage applications. Strategic responsibilities include improving the quality management system through risk-based planning, engaging with stakeholders to shape quality functions, and ensuring effective communication and documentation.

This role is contributing to the Operations Manager
You will be mainly accountable for:
Lead testing and quality assurance for Incoming, In-Process, and Outgoing materials in compliance with ISO 9001 and IEC standards such as IEC 61439 (low-voltage switchgear assemblies) and IEC 62271 (high-voltage switchgear and controlgear). Manage supplier audits, quality inspections, and verification of technical specifications to ensure component and product conformity.
Lead quality projects, including specification verification, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and customer witness testing. Oversee quality control activities across all stages using ISO 2859 sampling procedures, SPC methods, and IEC compliance checks. Establish a closed-loop quality cycle from product development to customer feedback to ensure customer requirements and expectations are met.
Implement short-, medium-, and long-term strategies to develop and enhance the quality management system and product development based on identified risks and opportunities, in collaboration with the local management team. Maintain and improve quality systems aligned with IEC 62271, ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and ISO 14001, and ensure consistent application standards across operations.
Influence and consult with management within the local ABB unit to innovatively shape the design and development of the quality function to improve overall organizational performance. Ensure effective internal and external communication relevant to the quality management system, and support internal and external audits with full documentation and readiness. Take ownership of customer complaint resolution, ensuring swift and effective outcomes that enhance customer satisfaction and trust.
Qualifications for the role
Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in quality, testing, FAT, commissioning, and operations within the switchgear or electrical manufacturing industry. A Diploma degree in Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field is required.
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 17025 and IEC standards (such as IEC 61439 and IEC 62271) is essential. Experience in implementing quality systems, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance throughout production is expected.
The role requires the ability to lead major test and quality projects, including specification verification, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and supplier audits. Hands-on experience in operating switchgear systems and managing medium voltage applications is important.
Candidates must be able to read the electrical drawing and logic control, develop and program relay protection systems, including communication setup and troubleshooting. Familiarity with protection coordination and system integration is a strong advantage.
Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, are required. The candidate should be confident in preparing reports, leading meetings, and working with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
